What I’m Reading

This list might occasionally get out of date… But here are some books I’ve been reading (or have read) recently that I’d like to recommend.  🙂

The Elephant Keepers’ Children by Peter Hoeg

This book is absolutely charming. It will get you laughing, which is always a good thing, but it’s true strength is in its juxtaposition of humor with profound observations on the human condition… All out of the mouth of a 14-year-old kid still trying to work through his first crush.  It’s really fantastic, and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman

I always love anything by Neil Gaiman, but I especially love his short stories, so I’m not surprised to find that I’m loving this collection. There’s even a bonus appearance by the Doctor and Amy Pond, which I wasn’t expecting!  😀

Three Slices by Delilah S. Dawson, Kevin Hearne, and Chuck Wendig

Predicting the future with cheese!  What’s not to love?  I picked it up because I read anything I can find by Kevin Hearne, but I’m really enjoying the collection in general, so far.

Shift (from the Silo Saga) by Hugh Howey

I can’t overstate how much I love this series. But I can’t say why without completely spoiling everything. Suffice it to say that every time you think you know what’s going to happen next, you are wrong. 🙂 I don’t say this often, but if you write scifi or apocalyptic fiction, you need to read these books. They’re just too well-done to skip.
